Acrylic, ink, charcoal, watercolor, pastel chalks, and very minimal collage all went into this portrait of Cornel West that I wanted to make as tactile, hands on, and human as possible. Far from the slick, cold, unrealistically polished veneer of corporations, and certainly far from anything a graphics software could conjure up, at least convincingly, this is a one-of-a-kind very human portrait of someone I deem a very humane person.
